Who needs to retire?

Terry Frei over at ESPN has a pretty entertaining article about who should retire.

  1. Eric Lindros ~ He is embroiled in Players' Association politics and the search for a new executive director, which should raise eyebrows, and remains without a contract for next season.
  2. Jeremy Roenick ~ Stop backtracking. Just quit. Cleanly. Unequivocally. Take Brett Hull's TV seat.
  3. Patrice Brisebois ~ Brisebois has made stunningly good money, and the headaches continuing to play will bring wouldn't be worth it -- for everyone involved.
  4. Pierre Turgeon
  5. Michael Peca
  6. Peter Forsberg
I can agree with most of those Foppa he puts into a gray area. Everyone knows Forsberg can be an elite player in this league, but whether or not he's going to keep having issues with his foot will be the deciding factor in what he does. Either way these guys have had amazing careers. But, seriously JR, retire, last year was pretty embarrassing. Make sure you check out the entire article it's pretty entertaining.

Forsberg vs. The Red Wings

So, Forsberg finally got his first point...well actually his first TWO points...yeah that's right Mr. Forsberg had an assist...and the GAME WINNING goal in over time. I only got to watch the 3rd period and over time and the occasional flip between channels to see what was going on. The first time I did my random flip I saw Chelios elbow Tootoo...and Mr. Tootoo for sure didn't forget about that elbow...because throughout the game these two had it out for each other. Whether it was Tootoo slashing Chelios or Chelios talkin smack to Tootoo on the bench. This game was for sure a playoff atmosphere. Uhm...randomly Forsberg looks really goofy in the Preds uniform. Anyway...it was a great game...and I got to see Osgood play...so that was exciting. Anyway don't really have too much else to say about this one. Final score was 4-3 Preds in OT.

Fredrik Norrena > Pascal Leclaire

If I see that Leclaire is injured one more time this season...I am going to freak out. I have never seen the kid play an entire game...and well frankly I don't know that I want to. Norrena has proven to be a more than confident goalie for us (yes I realize we lost 4-0 tonight...but I will get to that later) he just struggles on one on one situations...which he CAN improve on...BUT at least he's not injured for the entire season! I seriously hate this. UGH!! Send Leclaire down and let's keep Conklin up...maybe he can play more than 30 games for us.

Alright, I apologize for that but man I am so sick of hearing Leclaire is injured. Anyway, so I missed the game tonight due to the fact that I was at work doing nothing basically but had to stay anyway. But, when I got home I saw that my boys had been shut out AGAIN. Just for the record that's the 13th time this season. Alright so when I got home I turned on the tv and our little announcer guys are there talking about the refs...so I simply shut off the tv and grabbed my computer and hopped on NHL.com to check out the score sheet...and well what I saw were a lot of penalties for my Jackets...a total of 14 to be exact and let me break these down for ya...there were 5 roughing calls...3 hooking calls...2 fighting majors...and a 10 minute misconduct along with a few other ones. We gave up 2 power play goals...and 2 even strength goals. Norrena stopped 24 of the 28 shots he faced. But, I don't blame him for this loss at all because to put it quite frankly...you don't win hockey games if you don't get the puck to the net. I am not sure how of the quality of chances we got...but I'm sure we made Roloson look a heck of a lot better than he actually is. Anyway, since I didn't watch the game I can't really talk too much about it...but I found it really interesting the penalties we took tonight...we're not one of these rough and tumble teams.

On a happier note...the Preds lost tonight...and Forsberg still has yet to record a point down there...he even got a chance to shoot in the shootout and he was stopped...for some reason this makes me happy. And, it's not because I don't like Forsberg...because I agree with everyone he is a great player...I have seen all his highlight videos on youtube haha and I am impressed however I hate the Preds so much and do not want them to win the Cup this year...so whenever they struggle I am happy. That's all for the night!

Upshall > Forsberg??

Well if you'd have to go by the first 2 games that these guys played in you would probably think so. Upshall in his first 2 games with Philadelphia has 3 points (2 goals and 1 assist) and Mr. Peter Forsberg has well a goose egg. Alright, I watched the Philadelphia vs Boston game tonight on Versus and it was quite entertaining...this rivalry certainly is still going strong today. Everyone played wonderfully. There were quite a few scrums...anyway not a whole lot to say about this game. Boston won 6-3. Both teams made wonderful efforts and fought really hard. Jeff Carter, Scottie Upshall and Kyle Calder were for sure the high points for the Flyers. That's a great line. Anyway I am off...have a great night everyone.

Why the Preds, Peter...why?!

Anyone who knows me...or who reads this blog knows how much I hate the Preds. So it shouldn't come as a shock to you that I'm not a fan of this trade one bit. Granted that yes in future years it will help the Flyers...and having Forsberg on their line up will help the Preds. I really feel bad for the Flyers team as a whole though. They lost their captain...pretty much the heart and soul of their team. (I say that because the Flyers have yet to win a game without Peter Forsberg in the line up) I feel bad for the fans. I heard a trade rumor that Adam Foote could leave Columbus and I was just heartbroken. The guy on the ice that wears the C wears it for a reason. He is the leader. Congrats to Nashville on the trade...however I think they gave up too much...Scottie Upshall, Ryan Parent, a FIRST round draft pick, and a third round draft pick. Seems like a little much for a rental player...who you have no guarantee that the man is playing at his full potential. They are throwing it all in there. If they don't get it this year, Nashville will have to start rebuilding I think....and who wants to do that?! Anyway, its late...I gotta go to bed...night all.

Where oh where is Forsberg going?!

Forsberg...has been the topic of trade rumors recently...and now I see why. I am not going to lie I had never seen him play. But, tonight I watched as he and the last place Flyers took on the Detroit Red Wings...and was quite impressed. Now, I could make excuses saying the reason why Detroit lost was because MacDonald was in net but I'm not going to. The Flyers deserved to win that game. The Flyers had a two power play goals...which I think is amazing. I am thoroughly impressed with the Flyers. It seemed to me in this game at least that the NHL's worst team had some great plays that I saw develop wonderfully. And, that was just from me sitting on the couch watching it on tv I couldn't imagine being there. The game was full of hits...well maybe not full of them but they were definitely quite a few hard hits. I was amazed. My mom said at the start of the game well I think Detroit is going to just beat up on the Flyers and to be honest that's what I expected as well. The first period Detroit opened the scoring and I thought here we go. Soon the Flyers evened it up. In the second the score remained the same. I am not sure what the Flyer's coach said to them in between periods but he really got them going. Forsberg opened the scoring on a power play...and then they scored 4 more un answered goals. Quite impressive...if I do say so myself. Just to clarify I am not a Flyer's fan still...but I am a little more anxious to see where Mr. Forsberg goes at the trade deadline to see what he can do in the playoff's this year. Oh one last thing about this game...Michael Leighton played really really well. I thought he kept them in the game...and he didn't even get a star...but he was a star in my book haha....ok that's all.

And, on another note....Ray Emery was Suspended....which in all honesty he deserved....uhm...the video is in french....so yeah....

Oh, and to the Sens...good luck with Gerber in net the next three games....

And, to my Wings....get Osgood and Hasek better fast!!!! Especially Osgood....I miss him....
