Oh Sean Avery..

Well, there is really nothing Blue Jackets related to talk about so why not talk about Sean Avery. It seems he always has something going on in his life. Avery had his arbitration hearing yesterday. And, we're still waiting to hear the results...but, it's not looking too sweet for the tough guy Avery. Glen Slather described Avery as "a reasonably effective player as well as a detriment to the team,". For some reason I have a feeling that this is not going to end well for Mr. Avery. The Rangers have enough issues to worry about and while Avery played wonderfully for them I have a feeling that they may just walk away from him all together. But, uhm..I for sure could be wrong. Management also described as, "Avery is not a mature player. He plays, at times, like an individual rather than a member of a team. This is sometimes referred to as an inability to see the ice, and in Avery's case this seems to fit with his overall approach to the game." Those are some pretty harsh words. Avery didn't have anything to say except that he was "In shock." That's a first. Hopefully this works out for the best...for both parties involved. Mirtle has a great...rap up I guess you would call it, here.
UPDATE: Avery was awarded a $1.9 million salary for next season. The Rangers have accepted that and re-signed him.

"We are pleased to have Sean under contract and are looking forward to him returning with the same passion and enthusiasm he brought to our team last year," stated Sather. "He is a terrific competitor, who we expect to play a significant role in a successful season."
Sheesh way to suck up to him now. But, don't worry "Avery is a professional"

Pfft. I would almost feel bad... except it's Avery and I just can't bring myself to care about him. At all. I just can't seem to get past that hating-the-guy feeling... hmm. Go figure?
